About Us

Welcome to Brier Terrace!

Welcome to the new school year at Brier Terrace Middle School

Wednesday, September 4th we are scheduled to begin classes at 8am. We are excited to work with students and families to provide rich learning experiences through our continued implementation of Common Core State Standards, effective instruction and assessment strategies, and opportunities for enrichment and support.  Please be sure to read the attached details regarding 7th Grade Student Orientation, and other important information about starting the school year as a Bulldog.

Our mission at Brier Terrace Middle School is to create a positive learning environment which enhances and nurtures the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of young adolescents.  We understand that students in middle school have unique academic, social, and emotional needs. Brier Terrace offers a variety of programs designed to both challenge and support students so that all learn at high levels. Programs include the Highly Capable Program, Honors, Math and Literacy support, support for students with special needs, English Language Learners, Study Club, and Advisory – all designed to ensure that students meet their learning potential.

We believe that building positive relationships motivates students and staff to live up to the expectations of being in a learning community together. Our commitment to building positive relationships with students and families helps provide a safe environment where students are able to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.  BEL will be implemented in an advisory/homeroom model. Here, students will receive academic support and enrichment, as well as access to the Naviance Career & College Readiness.

Orientation for our 7th graders is August 27th 8:00-12:00. This is the only time this experience will be offered, so although attendance is not required, please try to make it if possible. This will be a STUDENTS ONLY experience and will be a fun way for new students to get to know the school and each other, so they can hit the ground running on the first day of school. Tours and activities will be part of the program to welcome our new Bulldogs and help make the transition to middle school smooth and fun. If possible, students may receive a tentative copy of their class schedules at the orientation.

All students will receive their class schedules on the first day of school. We do this by posting last names and room numbers for students to pick up their packets - and we have LOTS of people around to help direct them to the right place.

Throughout the year, we will post information on the school website, send emails, and contact you by phone for school related events. When you get a phone message from us, remember to listen for the “Grrrrrr” at the end to make sure you’ve received all the information.

I look forward to working with you to make middle school a positive experience for our children.

Sincerely,

Scott Morrison
